Kurenai sat against the tree, thinking of the night before. Her best friend had kissed her. Jiraiya had kissed her. The woman touched her fingertips to her lips. Kure still could not understand the warm feeling that had flooded her body when he looked into her eyes and kissed her. Last night didn't seem real.
"Jiraiya." the shinobi whispered. I have to talk to someone. But who? Kurenai thought about it for a moment. As she was thinking a wind began to blow, but it was a warm wind. Finally a name came to her.
Gandomai. Kurenai whispered in her thoughts. May I speak with you? After sending those thoughts out into the forest she waited. The breeze grew to a hot temperature. Kurenai looked to her left as sounds of running paws came to her ears.
On the edge of the trees, a lone fox could be seen. But it was ten times the size of a normal fox. It was a demon. "Gandomai!" Kure shouted. The beautiful woman flew to her feet and sprinted to the demon. "I have missed you!" With her arms around his neck the fox licked his mistress' forehead.
"I have missed you too, my lady. My mission has been over for awhile, but I was visiting with my brothers and sisters in the mountains. They wish you well." Gandomai announced to his mistress. He grinned as only foxes can and sat down at the base of the tree. "Now tell me what you wished to speak about."
Kurenai sighed. "You remember Jiraiya? Well yesterday Yondaime informed us that I was to be on his ninja team. So Jiraiya and I went to the Ramen Shop to celebrate the news. He had sat down and I ordered the food. When I was walking to the seat, Jiraiya wrapped his arm around me from behind and took me to the top of the building. He told me that the moon was beautiful and that I would look beautiful in the moonlight. Then he went to stand by the rail."
"Yes? Go on, if it pleases you, my lady." The fox demon listened attentively to her tale. It was quite interesting, that Jiraiya had finally shown something resembling a feeling towards his mistress. Finally. Gandomai thought as he watched his mistress, her face had a look of confusion, but longing on it.
"Alright. Then I walked over to the rail, where he was standing and I whispered 'Thank you'. I had my face turned away, so he could see it. I felt his hand on my chin, and he turned my face to his. The he kissed me, and whispered 'Your welcome'. But when I opened my eyes, he wasn't there." Kurenai sighed and turned her eyes from her demon's, to look at the leaves. Again she touched her fingertips to her lips, in remembrance of the kiss.
Gandomai grinned and rubbed his head on his lady's arm, in comfort. "I think that he was showing a liking for you, my lady. Jiraiya has feelings for you, obviously, and picked that time to show them." The fox looked at his mistress' face and asked, "What do you feel for him?"
"I...I don't know. I love him as a brother and friend. I have felt a certain warm feeling when I have seen him, of late." The beautiful shinobi smiled at her fox demon and rubbed his head. "I need to report to my new team. You may come or go visit Yondaime."
Kurenai rose to her feet and walked into the forest, in the direction of the Village Gate.
